Oh my gosh, you will LOVE this wine! The nose is redolent with incense, exotic spices, and berries. Raspberry-cherry mocha with loads of spicy undertones offers a delicious, rich palate. This wine showcases a rich and supple texture with gentle tannins and a smooth finish. The 2018 Soberanes is good drinking. Bring this wine to dinner and impress your friends.
Vineyard: The 2018 vintage marks another terrific year in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Now that the Soberanes Vineyard has glided past her 10 year birthday, she is really flaunting her style and finesse. The 2018 vintage marks a happy return to a later October harvest date, with longer hangtime and excellent phenolic development. I had to reach way back in my notes to remember the last time we harvested Soberanes in October; it was 2012. That’s why we love that Monterey Bay fog and the afternoon gusts- ideal conditions for slow ripening.
Harvest: We harvested the fruit for our 2018 Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir on October 4, 2018. The grapes were hand sorted and de-stemmed to 100% whole berry the same day and dumped to tank. Our allocation weighed in at 4.02 tons.
