Flyway Chardonnay, from the Middle Reach neighborhood of Russian River Valley.
Wine nerds have divided the Russian River into 5 neighborhoods and this Pinot is from the Middle Reach which geologically, indicates a river’s widest part. It can meander or reach laterally and create erosion on the banks, i.e. widening its path. It is usually a very fertile area with heavy soils that give wines a like Chardonnay a more tropical and stone fruity flavor. This 2017 Flyway has layers of apricots, spiced pears and pink grapefruit with touches of guava, honeycomb, cashews, and brioche, and a satiny texture to lift the long, savory finish. Basically – it’s good and has a ton going on!
