Another heartthrob of a vineyard, Russell Bevon and the Addax team get to work with another one of Russian River’s most iconic vineyards: Kent Ritchie.
Planted in the 70’s to the Wente clone of Chardonnay it is a polarizing wine when compared to the Addax Rued. It’s luscious and voluptuous texture gives you ample notes of baked yellow apples, lemon custard, hawthorn, and toasty brioche. Although rich in texture, the Ritchie Vineyard is a special place for Chardonnay and showcases its trademark terroir of Goldridge soil (marine fossils) that takes the bright acidity and adds a little more crunch in the wine. The 2019 was aged for 17 months in French oak and could be compared to a “Grand Cru” level Chardonnay if you wanted to. At only 150 cases produced, this is something you want to have to sip on along with some crab cakes doused in sauce remoulade or grilled lobster tails or maybe just with your wine friends.
